    How to play

    1. A prompt appears and the clock starts. You have 25 seconds to type one answer.
    2. Common answers barely count. The rarer your correct answer, the more points it scores.
    3. Points become depth. Every point sinks you 10 metres. Seven perfect answers reach 7,000 m, the trench floor.
    4. Wrong answers are refused, not punished. Try again while the clock runs. All it costs is time.

    The six tiers

    TierPointsSinks you

Tiers measure how many other people would say the same thing. As more divers play a prompt, answers that everyone gives slide down the tiers on their own.

    Questions

    What is Krillion?

A free browser game about giving the least common correct answer. "Name a fruit" has hundreds of right answers; "apple" is worth 4 points, "jabuticaba" is worth a lot more. Your total becomes a depth, and the deeper you sink the better you did.

    How many prompts are there?

Thousands: open categories, places, people, food, science, culture and word puzzles with letter rules. Every classic dive deals seven you have not seen recently, and you can play as many dives as you like.

What if my answer isn't on some list?

It does not need to be. Any correct answer counts: unlisted answers are checked on the spot and given a tier for how obscure they are. Word puzzles are checked against a dictionary of over a hundred thousand words.

    What is Endless mode?

Prompts one at a time, forever, with three tanks of air. Running out of time without an accepted answer costs a tank; a One in a Krillion answer refills one. Prompts get harder the deeper you go, and past the real ocean floor the map keeps going through invented zones all the way down to 250 km.

    How does multiplayer work?

Pick a live room of up to 40 divers, or start your own (public or private with a code). Everyone sees the same prompt at once. After each one you see what everybody said and what it scored. Deepest diver after seven prompts wins. No host, no accounts.

    And 1 vs 1?

Find a random opponent or send a friend a five-letter code. Same rules, one rival.

    Does speed matter?

No. The clock only decides whether you answer at all. Use the time to skip past your first idea, and your second one too.

    What are depth tokens?

You earn one per metre dived. Spend them in the shop on new divers (from a clownfish to a blobfish), lamps and trails. They live in your browser, so there is nothing to sign up for.
